Day 2
Ethan's 2nd day was actually our 5th day in the hospital and we were really excited to go home Sunday evening but also anxious knowing that this was the last day we'd have professional help. Struggling to find time to post updates so here is the quick rundown:
-Worked on nursing most of the day. It's been challenging but we're making progress
-E had enough of the icky hospital clothes. He decided today was a Ralph Lauren and Baby Gap Day. The newborn size is so big on him - his sleeves look like Dopey from Seven Dwarfs - love it!
-His is already a pacifier kiddo. We're hoping to avoid for a few weeks, but he got one during his circumsicion and it really calms him down and we're a fan of anything that decreases crying.
-First Day Photo is a company that takes professional pics of newborns at the hospital and than charges you a ridiculous amount. The session was free so we said yes but weren't planning on buying anything. Pics turned out pretty cute - made me cry - bought the most expensive package. (next post)
-Ethan got an awesome discharge exam from the pediatric ion on call. He passed his hearing exam, got his Hep B Vaccination, found out his apgar score was 9 out of 10, and his discharge weight was 7 lbs 3 oz.
-Signed a ton of papers and got all sorts of going home instructions
-We had to be out by 8:06 but thought we'd leave around dinner time. Left at 8:05
-Never felt the affects of the pain killers at the hospital (codine apparently makes some people loopy) but riding home in the back seat I felt woozy and drunk - good thing I had a driver!
-Came home to a sweet welcome note and balloon on our door from my mom. She had come over and stocked our entire kitchen with groceries to last weeks. Thanks grandma - you're amazing!
-Ethan got to check out his house in the sky - seemed to like it.
-Brian celebrated his first born son's birth with a nice glass of scotch
-Ethan slept beautiful from 11-1pm and then kept us up most of the rest of the night
No time to proofread - little man is due for a feeding.

Love the pic of him snuggled up on Brian! Those are the moments I miss. And to no surprise I think i loved the pacifier more than the boys, we may have never slept without those!
ReplyDeleteI can't decide which is my favorite, Ethan looking pissed off in the car seat or the scotch cuddling. LOVE THEM ALL!
